Construction of the Cernicchiara Tunnel

The Salerno Porta Ovest intervention has as its object the road connection of the commercial port of Salerno with the A3 motorway. The project will make it possible to incentivize the Motorways of the Sea (Short Sea Shipping), providing a wide range of fast, frequent, and economically convenient sea connections for the transport of trucks, trailers, cars and other rolling goods.
The Salerno Porta Ovest intervention provides for the direct connection between the commercial port of Salerno and the motorway junction, through a 2.5 km long double-barrel tunnel. Vibration monitoring was carried out as part of the tunnel excavation to protect the surrounding residential areas.
