Vaiolo Bassa Quarry (Lecco, I)

Environmental impact assessment

The Vaiolo Bassa Quarry is located at the south-eastern most side of the Lecco village, next to the Como Lake. The dolomitic limestone quarry, active since 1930, represents a strategic mining centre for the Fassa Bortolo industry.
The landscape context in which the quarry is located has required particular attention to reconcile the extraction requirements with the preservation of the various environmental components.
