Saint André de la Roche quarry (Nice, Côte d’Azur, F)
Underground development of the quarry
This aggregate quarry, active since 1973, is located in the inland behind Nice and exploits a Jurassic limestone belonging to the Provençal Succession.
Presently the opencast extraction proceeds by horizontal benches cut in the slopes. The quarry is strategic for the whole Maritime Alps Department, as no other activities capable of adequately supplying the marketplace are found in the area.
