“Stelvio” National Road no. 38

Bormio Bypass – St. Lucia tunnel

Bormio Bypass, on the Stelvio National Road no. 38, is a 2 km long tunnel. The tunnel was excavated through a deep-seated gravitational slope deformation that required a thorough check in the course of the various excavation phases, from the updating of the geological model, to the drill and blast design and supervision during the various excavation and tunnel reinforcement phases.
