Rogun Dam (Tagikistan)
Interventi di mitigazione del rischio crolli, caduta massi e debris flow
The Rogun Dam is the highest rockfill dam in the world being currently under construction. The construction site is located along the Vakhsh River gorges. This site is strongly affected by rockfalls and debris flows.
Several projects concerning the hazard and risk mitigation are underway both along the sides of the water catchment, both above the dam construction site. The design of interventions is based on geological-geomorphological surveys that are carried out on rock walls by climbing geologists. The data processing is carried out also by means of simulation tools that allowed us both to quantify the current and the residual risk, both to design the intervention works.
