Milan-Genoa High Speed/High Capacity Railway Line

The Terzo Valico dei Giovi

The Terzo Valico dei Giovi is a new High Speed /High Capacity railway line that allows to strengthen the connections of the Ligurian harbor system with the main railways lines in Northern Italy and the rest of Europe. The line makes part of the Rhine-Alps corridor, that is one of the strategic European transport network corridors (TEN-T core network).
The railway line is 53 km long, of which 36 km are tunnels crossing 14 municipalities between Liguria and Piedmont. The work consists of 5 lots with several tunnels crossing the Apennine chain, and is excavated by both traditional and mechanized methods. In the stretch of plain the works consist of trench sections and embankments.
